The Author, Edward Glassman, Ph.D.

BIOGRAPHY

 Born March 18, 1929 in NYC and graduated Stuyvesant High School in 1946.  

 He learned to do magic tricks as a teenager, and has been an amateur magician all his life. 


Hence the two magic books. 

  Received his Ph.D. in 1955 from the Biology Department; The Johns Hopkins University; Baltimore, MD.  

 Edward Glassman, Ph.D. taught NUTRITION for 12 years as a Professor (now retired) in the Biochemistry and Nutrition Department; Medical School; University of North Carolina; Chapel Hill, NC (1960-1989). 


Hence, the nutrition and weight loss book. 

  During his career as a scientist, he was: 
- Guggenheim Foundation Fellow and Visiting Professor: Stanford University, Palo Alto, California (1968-1969)
- Visiting Professor: University of California, Irvine, California (1978) 

- Visiting Scientist: Stanford Research Center (SRI) Menlo Park, California (1986).  

  While at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, he founded and headed the Program For Team Effectiveness And Creativity, during which time he carried out team building and creativity workshops for non-profit organizations and schools.  

  He published over 100 research articles on biochemistry, genetics; neuroscience; alcohol; teaching; and creativity. 

  Served on the Editorial Board of: 
- Neurochemical Research  
- Behavioral Biology  
- Pharmacology, Biochemistry, and Behavior  
- Behavior Genetics  

  In 1982, he was a Visiting Fellow in the Center For Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC, where he began to develop into a creativity consultant and a newspaper columnist writing about “Creativity At Work” and “Business Creativity.” 


Hence the two books about Team Creativity. 

  He also wrote articles on creative thinking and on team excellence that were published in...

- Intrepreneurial Excellence
- Female Executive
- Laboratory Management
- Management Solutions 
- The President (American Management Association) 

  He authored the following books on team creativity at work: 

* "For Presidents Only: Unlocking The Creative Potential Of Your Management Team." (1990) The Presidents Association of The American Management Association. 

* "The Creativity Factor: Unlocking the Potential of Your Team," (1991) Pfeiffer and Company. 

* "Creativity Handbook: A Practical Guide to Paradigm Shifts and Creative Thinking at Work," (1996), a 250 page workbook used in his workshops and creativity meetings. 

  Professor Glassman led scores of problem-solving creative thinking meetings and workshops for large and small organizations, including DuPont; Amoco Chemical; IBM; Texaco; Ciba-Geigy; Hoechst-Celanese; Milliken; Federal-Mogul; Calreco/Carnation; A.T. and T. Bell Laboratories; Standard Products; Eastman Chemical; Thetford; Lucas Engineering (UK); and numerous others.  

  These many successful experiences provide the firm foundation for his 5 recent books. 

  His biography appeared in "Who's Who In America" and "Who's Who in the World."
